Titanium Grade 5 Plate is the aerospace grade and is not cold formable, so it is used more often when no forming is needed. Grade 5 Plate aerospace alloy will have ultimate tensile strength at and above 120,000 psi. Titanium Gr 5 Plate has a high melting point of 3135°F (1725°C). Grade 5 Titanium Sheet is lightweight, strong, corrosion resistant and abundant in nature. Titanium Gr 5 Sheet and its alloys possess tensile strengths from 30,000 psi to 200,000 psi (210-1380 MPa), which are equivalent to those strengths found in most of alloy steels. Known as the “workhorse” of the titanium alloys, Ti 6Al-4V, or Grade 5 titanium plate, is the most commonly used of all titanium alloys. It accounts for 50 percent of total titanium usage the world over.
