What is a572 grade 50 plate ?
A572 steel plate is used in a variety of structural applications including bridges, buildings, construction equipment, freight cars, machinery, truck parts and transmission towers.A572 steel plate is produced in five grades: 42, 50, 55, 60 and 65.A572 is a high strength low alloy steel plate used in a variety of structural applications.
It is produced in Grades 42, 50, 60 & 65—the grades representing the yield strength. The most common grade triton stocks is Grade 50 which is produced up to 4” thick. Anything over 4” is made to a Grade 42, although we often stock it modified to reach the 50 ksi min yield. On requirements for this please inquire. We also stock Grade 60 in limited quantities.
ASTM A572-50 plate has a higher yield and tensile strength than A36 plate, combined with a lower weight. A572-50 plate is ductile and easy to form. It can be successfully machined with the appropriate techniques and is easy to weld. It is a high strength low alloy (HSLA) columbium-vanadium steel and is available in grades 42, 55, 60 and 65.
